Technology to lead the way at Coach Bus Live 2009

Launched at last October’s Euro Bus Expo, the new-look Technology Zone will feature right at the heart of Coach & Bus Live scheduled to take place at Birmingham’s NEC on 7 and 8 October 2009

States Show Director Mark Griffin: “Re-branding Transport Innovations as we have and integrating it within Coach & Bus Live is much more than a simple re-naming and re-jigging the floor plan exercise. This is a strategically led move, one that reflects the increasingly pivotal role technology plays within the professional lives of bus and coach operators.”

One of the main features at this year’s Coach & Bus Live, the Technology Zone is specifically targeted at a cross section of visitors from local authorities, operating and technology based companies, passenger transport and regulatory authorities. It will highlight the many different ways these groups can benefit and improve their passenger transport services with the aid of the new processes and systems on display.

Separate to the visitors who attend Coach & Bus Live, the Technology Zone will, through a tailored media campaign attract visitors from a variety of senior managerial positions including chief executives, managing directors, engineers, transport planners and consultants. Typically these visitors will have buying responsibility or influence for business support systems and IT, ticketing and fare collection, scheduling and customer service as well as passenger information and journey planning.

This dedicated zone is a reflection of trends within the marketplace and, in particular, the acceleration of new technologies. Explains Griffin: “The current growth in demand for public transport has given rise to a special focus on systems delivering high quality passenger transport information. The Technology Zone aims to capture these developments by showcasing the huge variety of travel information products and services now available from on street electronic kiosks and real-time journey mapping to the very latest in mobile devices and backroom software.”

It’s not only the show organisers who are excited at the prospect of launching Technology Zone within Coach & Bus Live for 2009; so too it would seem are the exhibitors. Andrea Mohr-Braun, Team Marketing Manager at INIT was equally effusive and had this to say: “This is the eighth successive year time we have participated at Coach & Bus Live and  Euro Bus Expo. There is no question this is an important show for INIT. It provides us with a very useful route to market in the UK and is a valuable source of international business for our company. We are confident that by integrating the Technology Zone within the main show floor for 2009 will see this number of leads and customers grow even more.”

These views are shared by another long time supporter of the show, Omnibus, as their Sales & Marketing Manager, Jeremy Howat comments: “We are delighted to be a part of the new show. Technology Zone serves as is a convenient spot from which to locate ourselves. Our clients know precisely where to find our stand and strangely this is often the only time during the year when we get chance to meet with them face-to-face. Technology Zone is handy for customers, especially when they are looking out for new ideas, this time we expect to be talking to them about TransXChange and Electronic Bus Service Registration.”

As an additional attraction for this year’s show, the organisers will be running two daily technology based seminars.

With floor space for both the Technology Zone and Coach & Bus Live selling so quickly, companies who are interested in exhibiting but who have yet to make a booking are urged to act promptly and avoid disappointment.
