CPT: The Confederation of Passenger Transport UK (CPT) is recognised by Government as the voice of the coach, bus and light rail industries and is the focus for consultation and negotiation on national and international legislation, local regulations, operational practices and engineering standards. |
IRU: Founded in Geneva on 23 March 1948, has local and global reach through its 180 members in 72 countries, through its national associations, represents the entire road transport industry world-wide. It speaks for the operators of coaches, taxis and trucks, from large transport fleets to driver-owners. In all international bodies that make decisions affecting road transport, the IRU acts as the industry's advocate. By working for the highest professional standards, the IRU improves the safety record and environmental performance of road transport and ensures the mobility of people and goods. In partnership with Busworld, IRU launched the “Smart Move” initiative at Kortrijk in October 2009, a long term awareness campaign designed to make buses and coaches the foremost means of public transport and achieve sustainable mobility across Europe and the rest of the world. |
GoSkills: Is an employer-led organisation that operates throughout the UK. We help employers and operators improve their business performance by developing staff skills and advising on issues such as funding opportunities, training providers and training tools. |
Smart Move: Smart Move is a joint industry awareness and advocacy campaign, initiated by the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and Busworld to make buses and coaches the foremost means of public transport and in so doing achieve sustainable mobility for all as well as meet ambitious environmental and road safety targets. This objective will be met through the active promotion of the much greater use of bus and coach transport throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Smart Move will seek to lobby policy makers at all levels across Europe and its member states to make sure they are made fully aware of just how safe, environmentally friendly, affordable, user-friendly and efficient buses and coaches really are. |

Greener Journeys : Greener Journeys is the UK bus and coach industry’s campaign encouraging people to switch from cars to buses and coaches. In just three years, we want to take one billion car journeys off the road. And we want to do it by forming stronger partnerships between local authorities and operators, making it easier and more attractive for people to use public transport. These measures would see both existing and new passengers attracted by added comfort, reliability and convenience, choosing to travel more often by bus or coach instead of car. If we reach our goal, we’ll see a reduction of 2 million tonnes of CO2, which would deliver an additional 50% reduction in CO2 from domestic transport to that anticipated over the same period by current Government policies. |
